Suspicious solicitor triggers law firm's closure
A law firm has closed after its sole practitioner experienced a regulatory intervention due to suspected dishonesty.
Oxfordshire-based law firm Denis Wynn & Co (Firm ID 74908) has been closed after the Panel of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) was satisfied it had reason to suspect dishonesty of the firm’s sole practitioner, Denis Charles Wynn (ID 107384).
The regulator stated that the practitioner, who traded from 12a New Street, Chipping Norton, required intervention as it was “necessary to protect the interests of clients (former or potential) of Mr Wynn or his firm and any beneficiaries of any trust of which Mr Wynn is or was a trustee.”
The SRA Panel was also satisfied that Mr Wynn had failed to comply with rules under sections 31 and 32 of the Solicitors Act 1974.
“An intervention is a step taken to protect clients' interests and money, in the public interest. It is a protective measure, and does not necessarily mean we have made any findings against a regulated firm or individual,” states the SRA website.
The intervening agent appointed by the regulator is Stephanie Walls of Blake Morgan LLP, New Kings Court, Tollgate, Eastleigh.
