Lender appoints new chief executive
The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has appointed a new Chief Executive to its Ulster Bank.
Gerry Mallon joins the Republic of Ireland-based bank from Danske Bank where he has been CEO since 2008.
Les Matheson, CEO of RBS Personal and Business Banking, said: “Gerry has a significant knowledge of the banking landscape in Ireland which will be invaluable to us as we continue to build a strong and profitable bank that is number one for customer service, trust and advocacy across the UK and Ireland.”
Before joining Danske Bank Gerry held positions at Bank of Ireland, McKinsey & Company, the Industrial Development Board for Northern Ireland and the Northern Ireland Civil Service.
He is also President of the Institute of Banking in Ireland.

Paul Stanley, Interim Chief Executive at Ulster Bank, will continue in his role until Gerry starts in June 2016.
