Building society appoints new director
Teachers Building Society has appointed Paul Winter (pictured above) to its board as a non-executive director.
Paul joins the building society following his retirement as CEO of Ipswich Building Society at the end of 2016.
Paul guided Ipswich through the financial crisis when it significantly improved its profitability.
He also developed a strong link between the society and its members, as well as cementing its position within the community.
In 2015, Paul was awarded an MBE for his work in helping to develop the skills and employability of young people in Suffolk.
He is a board member of the University of Suffolk, a trustee of the Building Societies Association pension scheme and has recently been appointed chair of the New Anglia LEP skills board.
Paul said: “I am delighted to be joining the board of Teachers Building Society.
“I hope my experience as a CEO in the sector can assist the society as it faces the opportunities and challenges ahead.”
Roy Spragg, chairman of Teachers Building Society, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Paul to Teachers and I’m certain he will strengthen the board with his strong building society roots and in-depth knowledge of working within a building society on a number of levels.”
Paul joins Roy and current non-executive directors Ian Grayson, Andrew Lee and Alexandra Pike on the Teachers board.
